I have a message that “jQuery Migrate Helper — Warnings encountered
This page generated the following warnings:
jQuery.fn.load() is deprecated
Please make sure you are using the latest version of all of your plugins, and your theme. If you are, you may want to ask the developers of the code mentioned in the warnings for an update.”
All of our plugins are updated and we are using Jevelin 4.7.1 on WordPress 5.5
I have one “critical” site health issue: “An active PHP session was detected. A PHP session was created by a session_start() function call. This interferes with REST API and loopback requests. The session should be closed by session_write_close() before making any HTTP requests.”
This appeared around the time of the WordPress 5.5 update and subsequent theme updates. We contacted our hosting provider and they were not able to help us. Is this an error on the host side (in which case I need to press hosting provider more into helping us) or on the theme/Wordpress side? I am having trouble finding where to start solving this problem.
Can you please advise on these issues?
Solution for this topic
Hi @ScienceofRowing,
I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.
It seems you are using an older version of the theme on your website so please update it to the below latest version as described here https://support.shufflehound.com/updating-theme/
Please login to access this file
This can be due to plugin conflict on your site so please try temporarily deactivating all plugins except Unyson, Redux framework, and WpBakery page builder plugins and see whether everything works fine and then enable the plugins one by one to see which plugin is conflicting if any.
Best regards,
Shufflehound team
Hello. Thank you. I updated the theme and went through each plugin. The JQuery issue is now resolved.
My site load time is still very slow and the “Active PHP session” error is still present on my Site Health screen.

My site load time is still very slow
There can be various other reasons why your site is loading slow as described in the following pages.

https://www.pickaweb.co.uk/kb/website-running-slow/

You can improve your site performance as described in the following pages.

To optimize images and load them faster, you can use any of the following plugins.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/ewww-image-optimizer/
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-smushit/
and the “Active PHP session” error is still present on my Site Health screen.
Have you troubleshot it for the plugin conflict as described in my earlier reply?
Thank you for those links. I will work through those. We are using EWW Image Optimizer already.

Ah, I was under the impression that I was testing the plugin conflict against the JQuery issue, not against the active PHP session. Do I now understand you correctly that I should go through each plugin activation again checking it against the active PHP session error?

Yes
Thanks. The “Active PHP session” error is still there even with all plugins deactivated except for Redux, Unyson, and WP Bakery Pagebuilder.
Then it seems the server related issue so could you please contact your web host to resolve it?
Okay, thanks for the help.
You are most welcome here 🙂
Hi again,
I went through each plugin, starting from zero plugins this time instead of leaving Bakery, Unyson, and Redux intact. The Unyson plugin is causing my errors. As soon as I deactivated it, my site times sped up, the “active PHP session” error went away, and another formatting problem resolved too. I reactivated Unyson and the error(s) returned.
From further searching, it seems that at least one other person has had this problem too with the active PHP session error.

Where do I find “the theme functions.php file” described in that answer, please?
You will find it as shown in the attached screenshot.
Thank you! That worked. The PHP error is resolved and my site health is back to “good” status. Thanks so much for the help.
Resolved.
You are always welcome here 🙂
