I am having this issue with Pagespeed Insight, where I am told to preload the following line:
https://parentingalpha.com/wp-content/themes/gillion/fonts/Simple-Line-Icons.ttf
I tried but somehow, could not get it to work.
Is there a better way to handle the problem – preloading or deleting?

The file is a font file that displays simple line icons on the website so we can not delay it.
I am not sure what you mean by preloading of it but you can improve your site performance as described in the following pages.

That is an icon font file and is not too much required in page loading so If you prioritize it then it will delay the loading of other important resources such as CSS files which will display your website broken for few seconds so you better not do it.
