Hi there, is there a way to set a new aspect ratio or at least customize the height of a feature image that is displayed on a blog post page? The client wants to reduce the height of the featured image so the content of the blog can be brought up higher on the blog page. Thanks!

    Hi @willdthrill,

I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.

You can change featured image size as described in the below topics.

Hi there… I tried to adjust the height of the featured image on the blog posts in Gillion theme with the custom CSS code to adjust the image height, but all it did was push the article content BEHIND the image instead of making the image shorter. I provided a second screenshot to show what I’d like to have the featured image look like, same width as default but displaying possibly 25-33% shorter in height.

This is not possible to achieve using CSS code as the aspect ratio of the image will be maintained so it won’t fill the required size.

Instead, you have to develop custom code as described above.

Good morning… I am sorry to have to pester you on this ticket, but since I am not a developer, I have not been successful in changing the aspect ratio of the featured image on my client’s Gillion theme blog post templates. I did try to use the custom CSS method to reduce the height of the image, but once again, the image did not get changed, but the article was pushed up behind the image. The second method as I understand it would be use the child theme and then add in new image size parameters to update the theme’s CSS to have the featured image display in the new aspect ratio? I am also confused if I need to download the plugin to re-size the thumbnails as indicated in one of the support threads you cited. Please provide insight, sorry to be so dense…

As said above, this is not possible to achieve using CSS code as the aspect ratio of the image will be maintained so it won’t fill the required size.

So don’t talk about CSS code and instead, you have to develop custom code as described above.

If you are not a developer then you can consider hiring a developer to develop it for you. You can hire a developer from any freelance site. Shufflehound recommends the developer https://www.upwork.com/freelancers/~011652ffec8865c6d5

Developing custom code for custom functionality is beyond the scope of support that we provide here. Please see https://themeforest.net/item/gillion-multiconcept-blogmagazine-theme/19470306/support

Thanks for the feedback. And for saving me and my client any additional time I would have wasted on resolving a problem I was unqualified to fix. I will recommend to my client the additional development support as you suggested. Consider this ticket closed!

You are most welcome here 🙂
