hello,
i have several questions
2. i want to make http://www.saveatrain.com/blog/ blog feature images, clickable (currently just the title is clickable), is there a way to do so, or i need to custom program this? i know other themes have this option.
3. looking at: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.saveatrain.com%2Fblog%2Fbest-chocolate-stores-europe%2F&tab=desktop , we get an issue of unused css, now i spoke to auto-optimize, and they say our plugin generates the css twice on the page and this is why we have this comment
would appriciate your help
Hi @SaveATrain,
I hope you are well today and thank you for your questions.
i saw this font in google page insights: Simple-Line-Icons.woff2?v=2.4.0, the problem is that no plugin knows to take of ?v, they only can take off ?ver, in addition is there a way to change this plugin to something else that doesn’t have ?v in it, since no caching system is allowing to cache fonts with arguments
Have you tried using the solutions shared on the below pages?
https://technumero.com/remove-query-strings-from-static-resources/
https://kinsta.com/knowledgebase/remove-query-strings-static-resources/
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-remove-query-strings-from-static-resources/
If yes then please try changing ‘var’ to ‘v’ in the code shared on the above pages.

To achieve this, you have to develop custom code in the child theme of Jevelin theme.
Developing custom code for custom functionality is beyond the scope of support that we provide here. Please see https://themeforest.net/item/jevelin-multipurpose-premium-responsive-wordpress-theme/14728833/support
If you are not a developer then you can consider hiring a developer to develop it for you. You can hire a developer from any freelance site. Shufflehound recommends the developer https://www.upwork.com/freelancers/~011652ffec8865c6d5

I am not sure which our plugin you are referring to because we only provide themes and not plugins.
Also, you can improve your site performance as described on the following pages.

3. can you please check if you are calling the css twice from within your theme?
i spoke to auto-optimize guys: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/unused-css-the-same-as-render-blocking-one/#post-12271417
basically the issue is: style.css loading things that are not needed for the front page:
“The pagespeed recommendation is not about duplicate files, but parts of CSS loaded that are not used to render the page.”
another comment by autoptimize guys:
“you *could* ask the theme devs to split the big CSS-files up in smaller ones and have those only added when needed, which would result in less unused CSS”
i have used wp autooptimize, wp fastest cache and OMGF plugins, all couldn’t remove this, because you use ?v= and not ?ver=
As asked above, have you tried using the code solutions shared on the below pages?

Could you please share the exact unused CSS code?
Regarding the ?v=
its basically something you have to change, non of the plugins you gave us should do it, because the known term is ?ver=
I think I have not explained to you properly.
I am not asking you to use any plugin but use the code solution shared on the below page in the section “1. Remove Query Strings from Static Resources with Code”.
https://kinsta.com/knowledgebase/remove-query-strings-static-resources/#remove-query-string-code
Then change the ‘var’ to ‘v’ in the code.
this is wrong practice, you should add an option in the theme menue to remove the ?v=
because if i edit it manually, next time i update the theme, i will have to redo this work
please pass this SEO bug to the programers of jevelin theme, its not only me, tons of plugins knows to remove ?ver but no one seen ?v including the experts autoptimize
I have notified the theme developer to change it in the future version of the theme.
because if i edit it manually, next time i update the theme, i will have to redo this work
No, you don’t need to change it in the theme.
Please refer to the page and the solution shared in it in my above reply.
ok now i understand, so i download snippets and change there and it overwrite thats written in the theme
what happens if you update the code of the theme, so basically if it doesn’t find the original, then it won’t replace anything?
thx for the help
Yes, you are right.
It is changed in the below latest version of theme so please update the theme as described here https://support.shufflehound.com/updating-theme/
Please login to access this file
can i just unpack this zip and winscp and rewrite over the old theme?
in what file did you make the change for the ?ver to ?v
thanks
You can update the theme any way that you want but above shared method is an easier way to update it.
