I’ve decided to use the WPbakery page builder header. In the desktop version, the highlights are off when navigating to a section of the page. For example, when you hit “About us” “Service” gets highlighted. Hopefully adding margin (as you suggested in an earlier response for one of the standard headers) helps, but not sure with this customized header.

To make it work with the customized header, you have to try increasing or decreasing the padding or marking added to those sections.
