Home › Forums › Gillion Theme › Tablepress Compatibility
Hello,
Firstly, I love the theme! Great design and functionality.
However, I do have a big problem – with this theme, the plugin Table Press isn’t responsive on mobile devices (I can’t scroll to the left/right).
This is a huge problem for us, affiliate marketers, as the tables convert really, really well.
I’d appreciate any help. If needed, I can share the link to my article.
It seems like I can’t edit my initial post, so I will go more in-depth with this problem, as it is a really big issue for me – the conversions so far are affected quite badly.
There are a few problems with my table plugin -TablePress that I didn’t encounter with my previous themes.
I don’t have an example of a table with the previous theme, but this is another website of mine – https://imgur.com/a/e7RFa – this is how it used to look like (please notice that the number of columns/texts is the same) – Please compare this example with the table on my website, https://imgur.com/a/7MRmO – The table has the same number of columns and even text, and instead of showing the last column (Check Price), it doesn’t. Instead, it has the collapsible feature (because I added it) and this hurt my conversions as people don’t always click on the + sign to see the price https://imgur.com/a/4PVnk
I’ve had a dev friend of mine trying to fix this, but with no avail. I really need help with this one because tables generate more than 60% of my revenue. I really love this theme and I’d feel bad having to revert to my old one.
Really looking forward to hearing from you.
Hi @JustEugen,
I hope you are well today and thank you for your questions.
You can only edit your post within few minutes after creating it but not after that.
Is this plugin working fine for you using any default WordPress theme like Twenty Seventeen?
if yes then could you please share the screenshots of how it is displaying correctly with default theme and how it is displaying now with Gillion theme?
Also could you please share me the page URLs from your site where it is not displaying correctly so that i can troubleshoot it?
Best regards,
Shufflehound team
Hello @ShufflehoundSupport
Thank you for the prompt reply. I will try to be brief.
In case you’ve missed my screenshots from above, I will add them again.
Tablepress works perfectly with my previous themes – Genesis and MTS Newspaper
My website is wonderlandgardens.org
Screenshots with my problems – DESKTOP
https://imgur.com/a/lYSiD – Here the tables protrudes into the sidebar
https://imgur.com/a/e7RFa – How it used to look like/how I’d like it to look like – check my other website http://www.interactivetravel.org/best-air-mattress-for-camping/
When the table doesn’t protrude into the sidebar, it still behaves oddly
https://imgur.com/a/7MRmO – That + sign should only be shown for really small screens like mobile. This is not ideal for desktop, as not many people click on that sign. https://imgur.com/a/4PVnk – The “Check Price” should be shown in a separate column, not when I click on +
Again, for the perfect example please check – http://www.interactivetravel.org/best-air-mattress-for-camping/ – This has the same number of columns/text, yet the Check Price columns appear there without any problems.
Not all is bad though. For some articles https://wonderlandgardens.org/best-garden-hose/ – the table works perfectly for Desktop (not for mobile)
HOWEVER for other articles it either shows that annoying collapsible button https://wonderlandgardens.org/best-backpack-leaf-blower/ or protrudes directly into sidebar https://wonderlandgardens.org/best-cordless-leaf-blower/
This is only for desktop
MY BIGGEST PROBLEM IS FOR MOBILE – the table is simply not responsive when/where it used to be. I am not sure how to prove/show this, but on my old themes, (plus the built in functionality of the plugin) I could scroll to the left and see all 6-7 columns of the table. Now I am only stuck seeing 2-3 columns which is not ideal at all. See here https://imgur.com/a/RyCbi
For Desktop: Ideally, what would be great for desktop, is if the theme would use some form of text wrapping (like in Excel/Google Docs) that would wrap the text and adapt to all the columns i.e,. all the columns would appear without problem.
For Mobile: I’d love to be able to scroll the tables again, and maybe make the text appear almost on the entire mobile screen. It looks like there’s some padding 30px left/right screen. I think 13-15 would be enough.
So, what do you think? Could you help me out with this?
I really hope so! Will leave 5 stars or whatever needed. I really love this theme!
Thank you for all the support and understanding guys. I have more niche sites and I’m looking to transfer this theme to all my sites/recommend it to some other fellows in the industry, but the tablepress issue now is a huge bottleneck.
So I’ve done more research into the matter, and I think the problem can be solved by either adjusting some theme settings or/and tablepress settings to make the table columns width/paddings smaller?
In addition to what I asked above, can you help me with one more important thing? The padding left/right on mobile/table is too big. The text occupies only 70% of the screen width-wise. Can we change it to 90% or so?
https://imgur.com/a/TXEO7 > This is how it looks like at the moment. As you can see, it doesn’t stretch on the 90% of the screen. Rather, there’s a lot of unused space.
https://imgur.com/a/1prhX > This is how I’d like it to look like
I really hope I’m not being a difficult customer. I appreciate all the help.
Cheers!
Unfortunately, I don’t think this theme is a good fit for Amazon niche website. I’ve yet another problem.
I use a plugin called Shorcodes Ultimate for the custom buttons I use. Since I changed the theme, all my buttons lost 50% in width for DESKTOP. They look way thinner.
I tried to change the padding – no luck. There is definitely a CSS File from the theme overriding this. When I create the button in SU – here’s how it shows me the preview: https://imgur.com/a/2JFSD
And this is what I get instead. Thinner. Longer. Not ideal.
For mobile, it looks way different and better: https://imgur.com/a/ROTXc
To recap my main problems
There’s also a bit of text protruding into the image: https://imgur.com/a/sTyGL
This is really not a good experience I’m having with this theme, and I’m losing money every day because of conversions/site does not work as it is supposed.
If you can help me fix these problems, that would be great. If not, it looks like this theme is not a good fit for amazon niche websites, and I would appreciate a refund.
Thank you very much.
Eugen
You need to develop custom code to make it work.
Developing custom code for custom functionality is beyond the scope of support that we provide here. Please see https://themeforest.net/item/jevelin-multipurpose-premium-responsive-wordpress-theme/14728833/support
We do offer only bug and small issue fixing but in your case it needs lot of customizations.
For refund you can contact on [email protected]
Dear Shufflehound Support,
Thank you for the reply! Are you sure we can’t make it work? I really want to give this theme a good rating!
I don’t think I need a lot of customization. I just need the two following things:
-Make the theme use less padding on mobile so the width of the text would be on 90% of screen rather than 70% like it is now.
-Fix the Shortcodes Ultimate plugin button to show the buttons as it should on desktop – I’m pretty sure there’s a theme CSS file that overrides that.
Eventually we can do a refund, thank you! However I’d really hope you could help me with this. If not, well, I guess it is as it is. Just let me know again your final answer.
Regards
Eugen
Solution for this topic
Sure we can help you to achieve it.
-Make the theme use less padding on mobile so the width of the text would be on 90% of screen rather than 70% like it is now.
You can achieve it by adding the following CSS code in the Custom CSS code option of your theme on the below path.
Admin Area -> Appearance -> Theme Settings -> Custom Code -> CSS Code
@media (max-width: 800px){ #page-container .container { max-width: 90%!important; } }
-Fix the Shortcodes Ultimate plugin button to show the buttons as it should on desktop – I’m pretty sure there’s a theme CSS file that overrides that.
Please use below custom CSS code to achieve it.
.sh-ratio-content { overflow: hidden; } @media ( max-width: 400px ){ .sh-ratio-content .post-title h2 { font-size: 15px; } .sh-ratio-content .post-cover-container { bottom: 5px; } .sh-ratio-content .post-categories a { font-size: 10px; line-height: 10px; } } @media ( max-width: 300px ){ .sh-ratio-content .post-title h2 { font-size: 10px; } .sh-ratio-content .post-cover-container { left: 10px; right: 10px; bottom: 8px; } .sh-ratio-content .post-categories a { font-size: 8px; line-height: 8px; } }
Exceptional! It works! Thank you a lot for the time and the help.
Please mark this as solved.
Have a fantastic day!
