I started noticing that the optional “notice” feature causes CLS issues.  Although I think the notice is very necessary, is it possible you can update the code so we can show the notice and not take a CLS hit from google?  Maybe instead of appearing at the top and shifting all the content down, it can be at the bottom of the screen?

I think this is important to the SEO of any website that uses Gillion.

    Hi @vonedaddy,

I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.

Could you please tell me exactly what is the CLS issue by sharing the screenshot so that I can help you?

    Best regards,

It’s hard to screenshot content shift.

Basically, when I have the “notice” option in Gillion set, after the page loads the notice pops up and shift all the content down.  This causes the CLS to be greater than the allowed by google.

Once I turned off the notice, google Core Web Vitals reported an acceptable amount of content shift.

    Does this make sense?

    Yes, I understood it.

I have notified the theme developer about this so that it will be fixed.

The issue will be fixed ASAP.

That’s great news, can you let me know here when it’s fixed so I can do some testing?

I just installed and tested 3.9.1 and the CLS issue is still there.

Is there a change log somewhere I can look at?

Yes, the theme contains changelog.txt file as shown in the attached screenshot.

Could you please share your site URL where it’s happening so that I can troubleshoot it?

Also, please tell me how you are testing it.

I don’t see anything in the change log pertaining to this issue.

I will share the URL privately.

    I am testing with https://web.dev/measure/

If I enable the “notice” option on your theme the CLS value goes above .25 threshold because it makes the content shift after it shows up.

If I disable the “notice” option, the CLS is 0.013 (at the highest).

+1 for moving the notice to the bottom of the page

I could confirm it and have again notified the theme developer about this with the required information so that it will be fixed.

Any update on this?  Has the notice been changed?

    No, not yet.

I will notify you here when it will be resolved.
