    Hi,

I initially made all my theme modifications to the parent theme, and have now realised that I should’ve used a child theme!

Without losing all the changes I have made to my parent theme, can I turn this original theme into a child theme so that I don’t have to start from scratch?

Or even better is there an easy way to literally ‘copy paste’ my current site / modifications across to a new child theme?

Thank you so much for your help.

    Hi @tailored media,

I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.

To achieve this you can just copy the modified template files from parent theme and add it in the child theme in same directory structure.

    Best regards,

Hi thanks for your help. Is there a tutorial online do you know that I could use? or even a very short step by step would be ace. I am worried I may destroy the theme I am currently using.

I don’t find the tutorial but you can use following comparison tools to compare your theme files and new unmodified theme files to see which files are changed.
