We’ve migrated the WordPress site to use WPBakery together with Jevelin. During the migration, and shortly afterward, adding new pages worked seamlessly. Existing portfolio pages on the site that utilize WPBakery are also working correctly.
However, as of roughly one month ago at the latest, newly created portfolio pages are no longer consistently rendering correctly on the frontend. When the issue occurs, the dynamic gallery, portfolio content, and the top header/navigation are all missing. When the page is functioning correctly, all three display normally.
The issue occurs on the frontend after publishing and viewing/previewing the page; it is not limited to the WordPress editor.
During the original migration, a WPBakery Message Box was added to the portfolio pages. As part of troubleshooting, we created a completely new portfolio page. After configuring the portfolio and confirming that it initially displayed correctly, we added the same type of WPBakery Message Box used during the migration. Immediately afterward, the frontend page entered the same broken state: the dynamic gallery, portfolio content, and header/navigation disappeared. We removed the Message Box and added a WPBakery Text Block instead. The page again entered the same broken state. After removing the Text Block, the page returned to displaying correctly. We then tested adding ordinary text without using a WPBakery element. In that test, the plain text did not cause the page to break.
Existing portfolio pages that were created previously continue to work correctly, including pages that contain WPBakery content.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Create a new Portfolio item using the Jevelin portfolio post type
- Add a featured image.
- Select the appropriate Project/category.
- Add images to the “Porject Gallery” field.
- Publish the portfolio item and view it on the frontend.
- The newly created portfolio page can initially display correctly, including the dynamic gallery and header/navigation.
- Edit the portfolio item and add a WPBakery Message Box to the content area.
- Publish/update the portfolio item and view it on the frontend.
- The page enters the broken state: the dynamic gallery, portfolio content, and header/navigation are no longer displayed.
- Removing the Message Box restores the page.
- Adding a WPBakery Text Block instead also reproduced the broken state.
- Removing the Text Block restored the page.
Please Note:
- Existing portfolio pages created during/around the migration continue to work.
- Newly created portfolio pages are the ones exhibiting this behavior.
- The gallery images are present in the WordPress Media Library and show as being uploaded to their respective portfolio pages.
- We have tested different numbers of gallery images, and there are existing working portfolio pages with the same number of images.
- We have also created a new portfolio using different gallery images and a different featured image while keeping the same Project/category, and that portfolio initially worked correctly.
- The issue has therefore been inconsistent when changing individual portfolio settings, but the broken state itself is consistent: the dynamic gallery, portfolio content, and top header/navigation all disappear from the frontend.
- Jevelin is advertised as compatible with WPBakery Page Builder, and WPBakery content has previously worked correctly on this site
