After adding a new portfolio page (Portfolio -> Add New), if I hit Save Draft I receive a “Updating Failed” message. If I hit Publish I received a “Publishing Failed” message.
If I attempt to edit a demo content portfolio page and try to Save Draft or Publish I receive the same messages.
If I attempt to edit text on the page I receive the following error:

After further investigation I have resolved the issue. My apache server did not have mod-rewrite properly configured, which was causing REST API to fail.
Apologies, the issue was not with the theme.
