I’m getting squares instead of the intended icons on the Gillion admin page.
It is also not displaying the theme version properly (supposedly since I am using a child theme here).

Sorry to hear of the problem you are having.
I have tested it on my test site and it’s working fine for me using latest version of Gillion theme.
Are you using HTTPS on your site?
Do you mean you are getting this issue since using child theme and work fine using Gillion theme?
Would you mind if i log in to your site and do some troubleshooting? If this is ok then could you please share me your site log in details privately by adding them in the box having text “Click here to share private content. Only you and forum moderators will be able see it.”?

I logged in to your site and found out the Thumbnail Cleaner plugin you are using on your site causing this issue.
It works fine after deactivating Thumbnail Cleaner plugin.

I’ll remove the guest user now if you don’t mind.
Yes it is conflict issue and you can remove guest user now as it is not needed anymore.
