Hello,
The ‘Latest Posts’ widget currently just replicates the posts next to it on the homepage, just wondering if there is the possibility of customizing it to put selected/popular posts instead?

I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.
To customize it you have to develop custom code so instead of customizing it you can use the popular posts widget provided by following plugin.
