I haven’t updated the the template since i bought it a while ago and when o tried making an update realized it was an old version. I installed the new version via FTP because it wouldn’t let me update via wordpress and all hell broke loose and I can’t log in anymore. Are you able to help?
Hi @bodega88,
I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.
I logged into your shared site and saw you are using the outdated version of PHP as displayed in the attached screenshot so please update it to latest version by contacting your web host.
You are only installed Jevelin theme on your site so when you delete it using FTP then there isn’t any theme available on your site causing the issue.
To avoid this please make sure you have installed at least one default theme such as Twenty Seventeen on your site.
Best regards,
Shufflehound team
Hi, I have updated to PHP Version – 7.0.33. The website is back but the content is not rendering properly. Everything seem to be broken.
This can be due to plugin conflict on your site so please try temporary deactivating all plugins except Unyson plugin and WpBakery page builder plugins and see whether everything works fine and then enable the plugins one by one to see which plugin is conflicting if any or use following plugin to check it.
Solution for this topic
It seems you are confused between the different editors and also with Gutenberg editor that came with WordPress 5.0 causing this issue.
You have to use any of the following editors.
Gutenberg editor
Unyson page builder
WPBakery page builder
I think the pages on your site might have created using either Unyson page builder or WPBakery page builder so you can only edit those pages using these page builders but WordPress 5.0 came with Gutenberg editor as a default editor so you have to switch from Gutenberg editor to those editors using classic editor as described in the below pages.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/classic-editor/
https://gogutenberg.com/disable-gutenberg/
You have switched the editor and saved the changes which damaged the page content so you have to either restore the old content if you have backup of it or create new page and its content.
This makes sense now , thank you for clarifying. I don’t have a backup so not sure if I have any options here other than start from scratch.
Also, as you can see from the screenshot, I have not update the pages since 2016/05/20. The issue occurred after I upgraded to WordPress 5.0 and all plugins and themes.
I’m trying to avoid to re-do everything if I can find a way to revert back to the way that it was.
Makes sense?
Thank you everyone for all the help! I was able to get it back to work.
You are most welcome here 🙂
