Hi,
we’re using the portfolio fancy on our start page and have two questions:
Thanks and kind Regards
Simon
Hello,
Could you please share a link to the page where the Portfolio Fancy element is used? This will help us review your setup and understand the behavior more clearly.
Regarding the maximum number of visible categories, we do not recall setting a hard limit of 8 specifically in the theme, so this may be related to default WordPress behavior or the way categories are queried in this element. Once we see the page, we can verify this.
As for the category order on hover, categories are currently output in alphabetical order by default. There is no built in option to change this or prioritize parent categories. It may be possible to adjust the visual order using custom CSS, but this would require creating styling.

Hi support team,
this is the link to the site:

Hello,
Thank you for sharing the link.
To properly investigate both the category limit and the category ordering behavior in the Portfolio Fancy element, we would need to take a closer look at the setup from the admin side. Would it be possible for you to provide temporary WordPress admin access via the private information field? This will allow us to debug it more efficiently and see what can be adjusted.
Best regards,
Shufflehound team
Hi,
you already have the access to our site as you guys worked on the ticket “Questions about Gallery and some bugs?”.

Hello,
Sorry for the late reply.
Many theme users provide login details only temporarily and remove them later, and some also manage multiple websites with different access credentials. We just wanted to make sure we still have the correct access before proceeding.
It seems the link we previously had is no longer accessible on our side. Could you please share the updated link?
Best regards,
Shufflehound team
Hi,
we’ve migrated to another domain. I thought I’ve provided you the new link already in the private information field. Anyway please find it here:

Hello,
Thank you for the updated link and access. I was able to log in successfully.
I’ve checked the Portfolio Fancy element on the homepage and I can now see around 14 brand categories displayed in the filter, so it looks like the previous limit of 8 is no longer present. Could you please confirm if this part is now resolved?
Regarding the portfolio item – hover categories order, we had idea adjusting the visual order with CSS like inverting the order, after testing more it doesn’t seem to fully fix it. The only reliable solution would be to modify the element’s backend code. Unfortunately, this type of customization falls outside the support scope.
Regarding the private information field, since it is an additional field attached to the reply, a main message must also be entered for the reply to be submitted successfully. If the main message area is left empty, the private information may not be saved or sent.
Best regards,
Shufflehound team
Hi support,
you might have not noticed, that we have way more than 14 categories. In total we have 28 categories which have articles assigned to it.
Besides that the shown categories differ from time to time, we were not sure how this is controlled.
The current situation is really frustrating, as it shows categories more or less on a random basis.
We don’t want to have a specific number of categories like 8 or 28, we want to have a reliable configuration which either shows all categories which have articles assigned to it or control the categories which can be displayed.
How can this be achieved?
Kind Regards
Simon
Hello,
Thanks for explaining. With 28 active categories, the Portfolio Fancy element can behave inconsistently. It was not originally built with that many filter terms in mind, which is likely why the list sometimes appears to change instead of showing everything in a predictable way.
We’ve made adjustments in the backend to improve how the categories are loaded and displayed. Please install the latest beta version below and check if the filtering now behaves consistently and shows all categories.

Let us know if the issue is fixed or if further improvements are needed. 🙂

Hi,
thanks I’ve installed the new theme version, cleared all caches but the behaviour is the same.
It’s not showing all the categories in the portfolio menu but only 14.
I’ve removed any limit, so that all projects are shown on the entry page but this doesn’t change anything.
Then I’ve defined some of the categories (in total 18), but then it shows only 8.
Thanks and kind Regards
Simon
Hello,
Sorry for the late response.
Thank you for letting us know that we can freely test things on the site. That helps a lot when debugging.
We checked the page “Home – Portfolio Full-width” and on that page it looks like all categories are displayed in the filter (around 30 in total). Because of this it seems the categories are loading correctly there. We attached a screenshot below.
Could you please confirm if this is the section where the issue should appear, or let us know the exact page where the category limit still happens?
Best regards,
Shufflehound team
Hi,
sorry we changed the website layout in the meanwhile.
This is the link to the site where we have the issues.
https://dev.bike-innovations.de/produkte/
It’s the modified version of the “Home – Portfolio — <span class=”post-state”>Homepage” which is included in your theme by default.</span>
Thanks and kind Regards
Simon
Hello,
No worries, thank you for sharing the updated page.
We have checked the new page and it looks like the issue was related to pagination. After disabling pagination in the Portfolio element settings, the categories now appear to load correctly.
Could you please check on your side and confirm if the filtering now works as expected?
Best regards,
Shufflehound team
