I’m trying to style a custom menu, but the changes are overwritten when I view with Firebug, instead displaying the css for .menu-item from the parent style-sheet. I’ve added !important tags, but no change.

I’ve also tried adding to the child theme style.css, and no change.

Is the child theme properly enqueuing the child style sheet?

    Please see attached screenshots.

    Thanks!

    Hi @socalbicyclist,

I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.

You are trying to style menu using .aboutmenu CSS selector but i don’t see any element on your site having aboutmenu class.

Instead of aboutmenu selector, please try using .header-standard-position selector to style top header menu.

    Best regards,
    Shufflehound team

The class is declared in the Visual Composer element ‘WP Custom Menu’

The menu is located on the page, not the header, as it is a supplemental menu only for our ‘About’ pages. How would I style that specific instance of the menu without affecting the header navigation menu?

    Thank you!

    Solution for this topic

To achieve that you have to increase CSS specificity on your site.

I have done it on your site and now it is working fine as shown in the attached screenshot.
