    Hi Shufflehound Team,

Thanks for the recommendation. A CDN could certainly help reduce latency for distant users, so I’ll look into adding that. However, since JavaScript load remains a primary factor, I understand that a CDN alone wouldn’t directly address JavaScript loading issues.

To ensure Jevelin remains competitive in a market where lightning-fast themes are essential, could you explore further optimizations to reduce or streamline the JavaScript within the theme? This would be the most effective way to solve the speed issue, particularly for mobile users.

    Thanks for your continued support!

    Best regards,
    Derek

    Hi Shufflehound Team,

Thanks for sharing your test case and recommendations. I looked further into the issue with our IT team, and here’s what we found:

Our server is optimized with multiple cores, ample RAM, and SSD storage, and we host very few websites on it, none of which are high-traffic. My IT team ran response time tests directly from our server, across multiple systems, and even across different data centers. The image load times on our server were nearly instant, similar to your own server test times. However, tests from an external system connected via Starlink showed times of 0.6 to 1.3 seconds, which we understand may be due to “last mile” latency issues, particularly impacting mobile speeds.

Based on these findings, our server itself doesn’t appear to be causing the delays in response times or impacting our PageSpeed Insights scores. Given this, it appears that the theme’s JavaScript handling or other assets may be affecting the load times, especially on mobile.

Since Autoptimize and theme settings have already been adjusted, could you take a closer look at the theme’s code itself to identify any additional bottlenecks that may be impacting mobile speed?

Furthermore, please advise any additional steps we can take to solve this speed issue. Thanks again for your continued help with this!

    Best regards,
    Derek

Thank you for your response, however, it would be nice to get a response sooner than 2 weeks. Anyway, I ran another test. And the same page is still scoring HORRIBLY.

As far as the WPBakery gallery element, since WPBakery Page Builder is the main page builder for your Jevelin theme, what do you recommend we use instead for an image gallery or can you suggest some “optimized alternatives that may reduce CLS and improve overall speed”?

Furthermore, I ran a speed test on a page with hardly anything on it, and that scores awful as well. I have linked that page in the private field as well.

So, how can a page with hardly anything on it still score poorly?

Also, can you please let me know exactly what changes or improvements you made to my site?

And finally, can you please let me know what else we can do to improve the speed?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Thank you for your reply. I understand that it appears smooth in real time, but Google uses these PageSpeed Insight scores (particularly mobile speed scores) to rank your site in the search engines.

So, if your site gets a bad score, it won’t have an advantage in the search engines over other sites with a better score.

Therefore, it is critical to use a theme capable of producing a fast PageSpeed Insight score.

    Jevelin gets a HORRIBLE score.

So, obviously we need to address these speed issues with Jevelin in order for it to be a reliable theme for anyone trying to rank on google.

    As for your suggestions:

I understand there are a few “larger” images (e.g., 460kb, 400kb, 173kb) on the homepage, and a video background, which removing could provide slight improvements, for the homepage.

However, the Pagespeed Insight report provided is not for my homepage. It’s for a basic page, linked in the private information field. There are no large images or videos on the page.

I’ve tested pages with hardly anything on them at all. They still test HORRIBLE. The problem is not the content. The problem is the javascript in the Jevelin Theme. That’s what all these tests show.

So, can we dig deeper into this issue and figure out a solution that will allow Jevelin to be a reliable theme, and compete with all these other LIGHTNING FAST themes available on the market.

    Thank you,
    Derek

    Hello,

I implemented both recommended plugins, and it produced very minimal, if any, improvements in site speed. The mobile speed is still HORRIBLE, and the desktop speed is still average.

I attached an image of a PageSpeed Insights score. The page is linked in the private field, for reference.

What else can we do to improve this?

    Thank you,

    Derek

Website provided in the private field. Even pages with hardly anything on it score terribly for mobile, like the guides page, linked in the private field.

It appears to be working now! Can you tell me exactly what you adjusted so I know what the problem was in case it happens again?

Update: (READ ENTIRE MESSAGE) Today, the google fonts are appearing again in my theme options settings. I have set roboto as body and montserrat as heading. Now, you can see that the bold font problem is back, so we’re back to the original problem in the thread. Please check again and you will see it looks again like my screenshots provided in the previous message. My hosting provider said there’s no problems with the hosting and he’s never had this issue and neither have any other developers he is hosting for, so the problem is with your theme. Please advise.

Your screenshots are showing the wrong font. I need roboto as my body font, and montserrat as my heading. Please fix my fonts so body is roboto and montserrat is my heading. All fonts are currently missing from my theme settings. How do I get the fonts back? There is no option to update font, or update the redux plugin. Again, there is no issue with my cURL. I can manually install any plugin. So what do I need to do?

More context: “Installation failed: Download failed. cURL error 77” is the same error I got recently when trying to update my Redux plugin. However, as you suggested, I was able to manually download and install it in my CP. Do you need me to install a debugging plugin manually? I’ve never had these issues until upgrading to Redux. Where are the fonts included with your theme located? Is it possible for me to manually download and install the fonts in my hosting CP? Again, please read this whole thread before giving me a quick half-ass response again, I’ve been waiting for over half a month and now this is just ridiculous.

Still no solutions or real answers. PLEASE HELP ME! Fonts not working is a MAJOR ISSUE and you’ve offered no solutions, except to reach out to my hosting? About fonts missing from your theme after upgrading to redux? They won’t even know what I’m talking about. PLEASE provide real support for this MAJOR issue with your theme. I’ve been waiting over half a month for you to give me a solution!

Please look into my bold issue ticket deeper. It’s been weeks and you haven’t provided me with any answers or any type of solution to this MAJOR ISSUE. Aren’t google fonts supposed to be included with your theme? As I said, none of the fonts are working when I select a font. I don’t even know what font is displaying currently because I have no font selected. LOOK INTO IT PLEASE instead of giving me a half ass response every 10 days.

Please read through my whole thread. I have explained everything. It’s been so long with this ticket. Please take the time to fix it. This is a MAJOR issue with your theme. I don’t see a screenshot attached. As I stated, the bold font is displaying now, without a font being selected in my theme settings. Before all my fonts disappeared, I had roboto selected as the body font, and that was causing the bold issues. Why would all of a sudden the fonts disappear? I’ve had google fonts all this time until now, then it stops working when I upgrade to redux. Yes I have tight permissions with my hosting, but no issues. I can download any plugin manually. What would I tell my hosting support? Google fonts should be included with your theme, right? You haven’t given my any help or solutions to this MAJOR issue and this is getting ridiculous with you giving me a half ass response every 10 days. PLEASE FIX THIS.

Really getting frustrated now! You reply to this ticket since I don’t need help but won’t reply to my open ticket from 17 days ago? – “Bold Font Not Working”

Another update: Now, all google fonts are missing from the font list in theme settings > styling. It only shows “standard” fonts and even those don’t work when selected. Bold words are now showing bold when no font is selected, but it’s not the font I want to use. Please help me.

I have added you as a user and the login details are provided in the private field.

I have also attached two screenshots for you to understand exactly what I’m talking about. All the font on the entire site that is supposed to be bold, is not displaying bold.

This worked. Thanks a lot! Now the only problem is they don’t appear bold, related to the problem in my other ticket.
