    Hi,

    This ticket might be the last one (we hope so!). But this issue is really important since it refers to a main function of the website that it crucial for us: bookmarks.

    We have been trying to edit and configure the bookmark function but there are some issues that need to be solved.

    I’ll detail the bookmark process and make some comment where we need to change/solve some issues to make it easier:

    1- Users first need to login/register. For this purpose, the user needs to click on the button “Iniciar sesión” on the Top Bar (attached screenshot “bookmark process 1”)

    2- When clicking this button, a pop up with form shows up. (attached screenshot “bookmark process 2”). Here our first comment here: There are some translations that we do not achieve to configure: register/registro, Forgot password/He olvidado la contraseña, Register/Registro (button).

    3- When the user registers, a WordPress result page shows up (attached screenshot “bookmark process 3”). Second comment: is it possible to avoid/change this step? We don’t want users to see a WordPress result page. Ideally, the front end of the website must be always in the background, and once registered, the user will see the website already logged in to his user account and will be able to bookmark the article he wants.

    4- User receives an automated email with several information for the user: username, URL for establishing a password, URL for login (attached screenshot “bookmark process 4”). Third comment: how can we change/edit this email? We want to be able to customize the content of this email. We don’t want the user to login into his account through the wp-admin (reason why we want to delete this link from the email). They must only login through the login pop-up form on the website, where they only need to put their username and password and they will remain on our website (we want to avoid showing any WordPress reference to users).

    When clicking the URL for establishing a password, the user goes to a WordPress result page with an automated password already created but allowing him to customize the password (attached screenshot “bookmark process 5”). Fourth comment: Is it possible to change/edit this website page result? As we mentioned before, we want to avoid showing any WordPress references to users. Ideally, it must be a page result with our logo and do no show any WordPress link. If there are, can you please tell us which option do we have for this point (trying to not using WordPress page results)? Maybe it’s possible to send users an automated password (ideally something that creates itself a password with our brand and a number like “WNDRLST25783”). We wait to read your comments here.

    5- User has his username and password and login to his account on our website. Fifth comment: When clicking on the bookmark icon, there is an error page that shows up (there is something broke, but we don’t know where). We also want to know if it’s possible to change the URL “/?read-it-later” and where we can change it (attached screenshot “bookmark process 6”). A few weeks before, we know that this function was working since we tried it and it worked properly. We need your help here in order to fix the issue, please.

    General comments:

    – Is there any way to edit the pop up login form? We want to connect this pop up form with our email marketing platform. Reason why we need to know how to have access to it.

    – Is there a way to know which bookmark has each user registered on our website? This information could be very useful for us for future marketing campaigns (based on the user’s content preferences).

    – Knowing that all users will become WordPress users on our website (we will have access to all of them on the backend ), do these users affect our WordPress database in terms of volume? (do these users “weight” that we need to be aware of this? This because we forecast a large number of users increasing constantly and we want to know this).

     

    With this, we think everything is covered. Maybe we will see something more to comment on when some of these issues will be solved. But this is basically everything about this aspect.

    I visited your shared website and the page works fine for me as shown in the attached screenshot.

     

    You have to develop custom code to change the URL “/?read-it-later”.

    To edit this, you have to develop custom code in the child theme of the Gillion theme.

     

    – Is there a way to know which bookmark has each user registered on our website? This information could be very useful for us for future marketing campaigns (based on the user’s content preferences).

    No, there is no theme option to know it without custom coding.

    – Knowing that all users will become WordPress users on our website (we will have access to all of them on the backend ), do these users affect our WordPress database in terms of volume? (do these users “weight” that we need to be aware of this? This because we forecast a large number of users increasing constantly and we want to know this).

    The user information is saved in the database but it doesn’t affect the database much.

    5- Here we have to distinguish between two issues:

    5.1- Bookmark functionality: I’m afraid that problem still there. The functionality doesn’t work. When logged in with a user account, when clicking the bookmark icon, there is a error page that shows up. The screenshot you attached do not reflect what is happening. Please check this issue in order to see what is wrong.

    5.2- “/?read-it-later” URL. Understood your message here: this needs to be changed developing custom code.

    5.1- Bookmark functionality: I’m afraid that problem still there. The functionality doesn’t work. When logged in with a user account, when clicking the bookmark icon, there is a error page that shows up. The screenshot you attached do not reflect what is happening. Please check this issue in order to see what is wrong.

    I could see on your website that the error occurs only when we logged into the website and visit the page.

     

    I troubleshoot the issue and found out the “Schema App Structured Data” plugin that you are using on your website is causing it so I deactivated it on your website.

     

    Please contact the plugin support to resolve the issue.

    Hi,

    Good to know what was causing the conflict. We’ll speak to “Schema App Structured Data” plugin developers to fix this conflict.

     

    In any case, the functionality still not working as it’s supposed to:

    When any user (suscriptor) is logged in (since it’s not possible to bookmark any article if a user is not logged in to his account) and go to any article through our website and wants to bookmark it, he needs to click on the bookmark icon.

    Currently, on our tests, we log in with this user (username: nicotest / password: 0oB&uv9PlP!6E#27gQlY51Nm). Once connected, we go to any article and click on the bookmark icon. And this is what is happening: it goes to https://www.thewanderlustmag.com/?read-it-later and shows a list of all articles from WordPress without any distinction. (this is not supposed to happen). You can find a screenshot attached.

     

    When clicking the bookmark icon, it’s supposed to add the article (and the icon indicates the number of bookmarks saved by the user). But this is not happening.

    Taking into account that the conflicting plugin is already deactivated, it must be another error somewhere else.

    It seems you are using an older version of the theme on your website so please update it to the below latest version as described here https://support.shufflehound.com/updating-theme/ and test the bookmark functionality.

    Hi again,

    We’ve just updated the theme version to 3.7.5

    The problem still there with the bookmark functionality.

    In our tests, when user is logged in and click to the bookmark icon, it goes to the page result /?read-it-later with all the articles from our website.

    On the demo version of your theme, when user click on the bookmark icon, it automatically save the article and specify the number of bookmark saved.

    Could you please check what could be happening?

    I logged into your website to test it and it worked fine for me as shown in the attached screenshot.

     

    Could you please test it clearing your browser cache?

    Hi there!

    We follow your instructions and now we can see it working properly.

    We consider this issue solved.

     

    Before closing this ticket, we need to fix 2 other minor issues that result from the theme update.

    • Footer title styles: for some reason, now titles on the footer appear “thin” when they were “bold” (as we want).
    • Filters from the review section on mobile (https://www.thewanderlustmag.com/nuestras-reviews/): For some reason, the filter section is located at the bottom of the page when it’s supposed to be on the top of the page (just before the articles). It was this way before the theme update.

     

    Could you please check these 2 issues?

    Hi,

    We’ve just identified another issue that is important to fix (this issue result also from the theme update).

    It’s about the “Fixed Toc” content plugin. It was working perfectly before the theme update.

    You can see this issue in any article since all of them (except product reviews) have the Fixed TOC plugin.

    For some reason, when you scroll down, it appears and disappears. And even sometimes the entire page shows up desconfigurated.

     

    Could you please check what could be generating this conflict on the update theme?
