    Does it require custom code of a php template page in the child theme to show the category description on the main category blog post page? For example, we have put a description in on a particular category under Blog Posts >> Categories in the backend and want it to show on the page right below the header, before the posts start to feed in, in a masonry format and it is not currently showing.

    As this isn’t frequently requested feature it seems that custom code may be required to add description for categories in that place.
